Lou Marron's Swordfish

On May 7, 1953, Lou Marron made sportfishing history by setting the All-Tackle World Record for swordfish off the coast of Iquique, Chile. Trolling a bonito aboard the Flying Heart with Captain Eddie Wall, Marron boated a massive 536.15-kilogram (1,182-pound) fish after a two-hour fight. This legendary catch shattered the previous record by nearly 500 pounds. More than 70 years later, this outstanding achievement still stands as the king of all swordfish records.
