On June 5, 2003, Willy Goldsmith hooked a massive 20.91-kilogram (46-pound, 1-ounce) Atlantic cod while fishing out of Ogunquit, Maine. Goldsmith subdued the fish after a brief fight on a jig, setting the Men's Junior World Record for the species. Ogunquit has proven to be a prime location for giant cod, producing three of the four current Junior and Smallfry World Records. This coastal destination is highlighted by the IGFA as a true land of giant Atlantic cod.
