On October 26, 1979, angler Ken Fraser set the IGFA All-Tackle World Record by landing a 678.56-kilogram (1,496-pound) bluefin tuna. Fishing out of Aulds Cove, Nova Scotia, Fraser needed just under an hour to land the massive fish. The giant tuna struck a rigged mackerel that was being trolled behind the boat Lady & Misty. This historic catch remains the heaviest tuna ever recorded in the history of the IGFA.
