Using a small prop in the foreground while placing a friend in the background helps minimize the apparent size difference between them. To find the most compelling setup, try photographing your scene from multiple angles and perspectives. If the background of your shot is distracting, you can blur it to help the viewer focus on the foreground. On a traditional camera, selecting a smaller f-stop number creates a larger aperture opening, which results in a blurrier background.
